I try to be as relaxed as possible and to put them at ease by telling them I mostly do fan site stuff. But he has no idea whether I’m going to try and hit him with “Just what WERE you thinking!?!” types of questions. I definitely have sympathy for the guys and you can tell the guys who have been around for a while because they’ve got used to the routine.

He talked about how much of a responsibility it was to be starting as a freshman and how much he’s had to learn. Additionally, of all the guys I’ve talked to he was the least animated, least comfortable being interviewed. You could tell that he was uncomfortable with it.

He’s a solid kid who I think will do the program proud over the next few years. I also think he’s played excellently the last few weeks.

I think he’s shown great improvement this year (for a freshman) and he could quite possibly be the most important player on defense for Cal against USC. Our fate may very well hinge on how well he plays.
