As an addition, now 2 days later I still think I had it just about right in my first post except for one thing: defense.

We shouldn't let them off the hook either. OK, so they only really gave up 28 points (minus the 3 special teams blunders and the doesn't matter end of regulation play) but they still gave up 4 touchdowns and never made a good goal line stand to force a field goal. They're inability to wrap up Drew was pathetic in the redzone particulary considering how well they did it in the rest of the field. They also failed to stop UCLA on that final drive giving up two HUGE plays.

I think what is so disappointing about this game is that it would have only taken one of five things to change this to a W and none of those things happened (in order of importance/impact):

1. Prevent special teams mistakes
2. Keep offensive balance in 2nd half
3. Keep offensive balance in redzone
3a. Score touchdowns in redzone
4. Force field goals on opposing redzone trips
5. Prevent the long plays on the last drive

None of those things happened and ALL of them were well within the team's capability and control with the possible exception of #4, but I believe that is giving Drew too much credit. We had him wrapped up a number of times in the redzone and failed to get him down.

Ken, I know what you mean.
I hate Maurice Jones-smith-whaymini-Drew (or whatever he has on his jersey this week).
The most frustrating thing about the loss is now we're looking at like the Michelin Tire Discount Outlet Peanut Bowl... played in Akron...

So how do you really feel?

That's too bad. I was following the game until the beginning of the fourth quarter. I knew it was closer than you had predicted, and the game was still being played, but I thought that I was hearing the fat lady warming up. I just didn't realize that it was for Cal.
