03/29/2005: "Question of the Week: What is the Triduum?"

The Triduum refers to the 3 days that make up the Paschal Mystery. It starts Holy Thurdsay evening with the celebration of the Last Supper and ends with Easter. It consisits of 4 services that make up one Liturgy:

-Holy Thursday evening: The Last Supper and the Washing of the Feet
-Good Friday: The Passion of Christ
-Easter Vigil: The initiation of new Catholics into the Church
-Easter Sunday: The Resurrection

In celebrating these events we celebrate the Paschal Mystery: The mystery that to come to new life, we must first die.
