People are defending him rabidly on Cal discussion boards and assaulting anyone who criticizes him with taunts of “bandwagon fan” and “this is why we don’t deserve Tedford, because our fans suck.” But in reality the kid just isn’t right for the program. I’m all for boosting self esteem in out student athletes, but I’m also rather fond of winning games. Sink Ayoob and give Reed or Longshore a try next year. Will Tedford do it? Most say probably not, and as a result we’re going to have one more tepid season. I honestly feel that with a better QB we’d be undefeated right now. UCLA and Oregon were games where it came down to the wire largely due to mistakes, and Oregon State was just a farce, but I think with a good QB it wouldn’t have gotten even close to that.
