I have a baseball style 3/4 sleeve shirt that is gold with blue sleeves. Maybe I should use that one. But even that might be going to far… everyone in the bay area knows that blue and gold are Cal’s colors.

Something that satisfies our desire to support our team but doesn’t give away our plight. The best I can think of on short notice is a line of hats and shirts with a script “AL” in red and white. It’ll confuse everyone, but what it says to us is “We support Cal, but something isn’t right today.” We might get a lot of “Who is Al?” questions though.

I had the game on DVR, as any good Cal fan would. Driving home to the east bay on the day of the game I kept the radio dial far away from any sports radio station in fear of hearing the score. I should say that I was wearing a Cal sweatshirt because I HAVE to wear some Cal clothing on game days…it’s my personal tradition.

I made it all the way to Gilroy, where I made a stop for gas. When I walked in the guy behind the counter yelled, “Wow, what a game, eh? We pulled it out in overtime! Go Bears!” I was crushed. But at least the news was good.
