Is it time for two blogs?

OK, I know that my blog traffic is minimal at best so creating two blogs doesn’t seem like a great idea on the surface. However, I’m thinking that I write about two VERY different topics. I write about my Catholic faith and the way I see the world as a result of that faith and I write about Cal football. Should I be splitting this into two separate blogs?

The reason this comes to mind is that although most of my posting to date has been Cal related, I’ve been thinking of upping my level of Catholic blogging. I want to write more reflections on the scripture of the day again. I don’t want this to put off those who come to my blog for Cal info.

So here’s a quick survey for all of my readers:

1. Would you visit my blog more often it it was more focused on the subject you’re interested in?
2. Do you think there would be some who wouldn’t visit if the two subjects continued to be intermixed?
3. For those who would be or might be interested in both sides, would having two blogs be a big inconvenience, or do you use an RSS reader?

Thank you to all who take the time to answer…

Hey, why don’t we put all of our Cal efforts into a new website called http://www.heykylereedtakeoffyourredshirt.com

    Just kidding.

It doesn’t really matter for me. My Cal stuff is posted on what is normally an A’s blog. But it’s the offseason, there has to be something for me to do in offeseson right?

Look, this is your blog and you have ultimate control of what can be put into it.

In other words, don’t sweat it.

we can always use another dedicated cal football site. however, the catholic stuff sounds interesting too… decisions, decisions…

I dunno Ken, I’ve always thought you should have 58 different blogs. One for each subcategory ya know?
Like one for Cal Offensive, one for Cal Defensive, one for Cal Special Teams… yada yada yada
lol just kidding, I thought that’s the point of the filters? Since I’ve turned on the Cal filter I just assumed you did your Catholic thoughts…

Good idea Brian, 58 blogs it is. I’ll start on the Cal QB controversy blog first…

Thank you Seth and Kenny for your feedback. Others?

The advantage of category archives is that you can focus just on the category you care about. Cal Fans can always bookmark http://thecrawfordfamily.net/blog/?cat=18 and get Cal-only content. But I admit, people can be confused. (This is our challenge on Idiots Write About Sports, since we cover various topics and oftentimes people only want to read about Cal, or the Giants, or the A’s.)
